The silk mills we work with believe in enhancing the lives of their workers and surrounding community by reinvesting profits into local community initiatives.

Silk-making is a role traditionally led by women in Jiangsu, one of China's main silk-producing regions. This includes planting mulberry, raising silkworms, unreeling silk, making thread and weaving fabric (via UNESCO).

Our silk is grown without pesticides or fertilisers that are commonly used on mulberry plants. They are also dyed with low impact, non-AZO dye. AZO are nitrogen based dyes with suspected carcinogenic and allergenic properties (x).
